Relative to all the corn fields, I heard on the TV news that the New York State and Canadian officials have been flying over the corn fields looking for illegal crops of marijuana. One picture they showed was a large rectangular area smack in the middle of a corn field, allegedly growing an illegal crop. Kathy and I decided the silage was going to be very potent this year…giving new meaning to contented cows. We thought it was funny.

Not too far beyond 32.58 miles we started a 1-2% grade climb which seemed to last forever (2 miles). Not too bad. It leveled off then went up some more. The reward was a 2-mile down hill at a lot more than a 2% grade! Without pedaling I hit 28.7 mph. ☺

There were long stretches where all we hear is crickets, the wind in the cornfields and the hum of our tires on the pavement.
