From the Internet:
(The) Mohawk River…flow…at Cohoes…includes small diversion for Cohoes water supply, plus flow diverted at Cresent Dam to Barge Canal through Lock 6. During the summer, the falls are virtually dry, revealing shale rock formations that have their own distinctive beauty.
There are several links I could put up for Cohoes Falls, but you can Google the area and come up with them yourself if you are interested. The falls are one of New York State’s best kept secrets.
The fall foliage up and back was spectacular. A few pictures taken from the car as we left Cohoes and headed home are posted at the very end of this journal. Keep scrolling!
